FOLKLORE FESTIVAL

The International Mountain Folklore Festival is the most important cultural event in Zakopane. It takes place in the summer, during the last years in the third week of August, every year since 1968.

It is an extraordinarily colorful and joyful event – in addition to the performances of regional bands from around the world, many interesting accompanying events take place at the same time. Such as the Procession of all folk bands through the streets of Zakopane. Or Podhale Championships in Driving and the Python Singing Competition, Parade Carriage, and the “Fiakier of the Year” competition, Exhibition of sheepdogs from the Podhale region, Highlander Wedding, numerous workshops for children (glass painting, cutting of the material, tissue paper folding), Folk Art and Artistic Craft Fair.

Every evening, after concerts, in the Festival Village (on the “Dolna Równia Krupowa”), there are “Integration Campfires” during which the audience can get to know the bands participating in festival competitions.
Admission to all events (except Inaugural and Final Concerts) is free!
